What are Cookies?

You can find a technical explanation of cookies from Wikipedia here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_cookie

A simple definition is that cookies are text files, saved by your browser, that perform a range of functions for you, ‘the user’ and us, ‘the site’, from remembering what’s in a user’s basket, what currency they like through to telling us how many people visited in a day, and what was purchased. They also help you share content – for example, if you are logged into Facebook, a cookie means that when you come to our site and ‘like’ something, you don’t have to log into Facebook again.

What cookies do Thomas Royall use?

We take your privacy very seriously. Like all websites, we have a number of ‘cookies’ that perform functions similar to the above examples. None of these cookies invade your privacy or personal information, or share any personal information about you.

THIS DATA IS ANONYMOUS, AND WE DON’T SHARE ANY ELEMENT OF IT WITH THIRD PARTIES

Our ‘analytics’ cookies from Google Analytics called _utma_utmb_utmc, & _utmz.
These are industry standard cookies that allow us to see how people are using our site. It can help us understand how you interact with Thomas Royall and we use this data to improve the site, spot pages that are slow and make sure that you can order and pay successfully.

THIS DATA IS ANONYMOUS, ONLY ACCESSIBLE SECURELY TO US THROUGH THE ‘GOOGLE ANALYTICS’ DASHBOARD AND WE DON’T SHARE ANY ELEMENT OF IT WITH OTHER THIRD PARTIES

Thomas Royall’s ‘social’ cookies from ‘sharethis.com’.
There are a number of social cookies that let you share/like/tweet etc all of our pages using your preferred social networks and websites. If you are logged into any of these sites, the sharethis cookies keep you logged in, and help you share the content. The add this privacy policy is here: http://sharethis.com/privacy

It’s a little complex, but essentially is completely dependent on the social networks that you use – i.e. it collects data, but not about you personally. As an example, add this would know if you clicked ‘like’ on one of our products, and it tells Facebook. But it doesn’t know who you are, and can’t sell that data or use it commercially. THIS DATA IS ANONYMOUS, ACCESSIBLE SECURELY TO SHARETHIS.COM AND WE DON’T SHARE ANY ELEMENT OF IT WITH ANY OTHER THIRD PARTIES

Why are you telling me this?

At our end, nothing has changed, and we will ALWAYS respect your privacy and personal information. A new law means that we need to make it very clear how we use cookies and which cookies they are.

What if I want to opt out of some or all of the cookies you have described?

That’s entirely possible and relatively simple. Your browser is where your cookie information is stored. Each browser has a different method for you to delete cookies or edit your privacy settings. The following resource offers you simple guides on how to remove cookies from each browser: http://www.aboutcookies.org/Default.aspx?page=2

Opting out of these cookies will often result in a slower or less pleasant browsing experience.

If you have more questions, we would love to hear from you. Please drop us a line using info@thomasroyall.com – if you could put the word cookies policy in your subject line that would be great.

Currency Conversion

By using our website, you (the visitor) agree to allow third parties to process your IP address, in order to determine your location for the purpose of currency conversion. You also agree to have that currency stored in a session cookie in your browser (a temporary cookie which gets automatically removed when you close your browser). We do this in order for the selected currency to remain selected and consistent when browsing our website so that the prices can convert to your (the visitor) local currency.
