How to Get a Beach Body in a Hurry
The summer sun gives you the perfect opportunity to get into your swimwear and show off your body, but what if you don’t feel like you’re ready to show off your abs just yet? There’s no need to worry, as even if you haven’t been able to get to the gym for a while there are a few tricks that can help you fake a beach body so that you can walk around with the confidence that women love to see. Here are some important tips to remember if you want to fake a beach body in a hurry.
Get the pump
After working out you’ve probably noticed that your muscles look bigger than normal. This isn’t just wishful thinking, as a heavy lifting session can create a build-up of muscular byproducts, which most people refer to as “muscle pump”. Over time your body removes the build-up and your muscles return to their normal size, but there are ways you can use this whole process to your advantage.
If you’re going to be heading to the beach in a few hours then you can try and schedule a workout just before. This doesn’t have to mean a full gym session, and it could even include some quick sets of 20-50 press-ups, some tricep dips, pull-ups and some ab work. These exercises will start to get the blood flowing and temporarily increase their size, adding more definition in the process. It’s important to focus on slightly higher reps for this quick workout, with less time spent resting between sets.
Get rid of water retention
If you have longer than a few hours to prepare for the beach then there are a few more things you can do. Glycogen is stored in muscle tissue and it’s needed to perform the intense exercises that your body goes through in the gym. Working to reduce the amount of glycogen in the muscles could help you look leaner, as for every gram of muscle glycogen you lose, your body will also lose around four grams of water.
Getting rid of this stored water involves cutting the intake of carbs about a week before you hit the beach. If your body isn’t taking as many carbohydrates in then it won’t replenish them to the same extent after each workout as it normally would. You can even speed up the process by adding more reps to your exercise sets at a lower weight, as this will help to use more muscle glycogen. This method could mean you feel a bit more tired during workouts towards the end of the week, as glycogen is like fuel for the muscles, but it could be the difference maker if you want to look toned in the sun.
Concentrate on the skin
A tanned body generally looks a lot more toned and defined. This is why bodybuilders all over the world slap on the fake tan before they enter competitions, in order to make every inch of their physique look lean and muscular. You don’t have to go to these extremes, but getting a slight tan can make a big difference when it comes to looking your best on the beach. Elsewhere, if you have a lot of hair on your body you could even try removing it to look even more defined.
If you need a beach body in a hurry then these tips should help you to look your best. Of course, a huge part of being confident and turning heads on the beach is your swimwear, and at Thomas Royall you can get the designer shorts that look great by the pool or at the bar.
