Golf is constantly growing as a sport, and is becoming more popular rather than just something that you do when you retire. Watching the talent at competitions at events like the Masters, inspires us to get up, try and learn. When on holiday, a round of golf can be appealing, as a relaxing thing to do in the sunshine. Here are some of the best golf courses around the world to be inspired by.

El Camaleon

First up we have El Camaleon at Mayakoba in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. If you’re looking to travel in the winter this is the perfect place for you to get some sunshine and enjoy a few rounds of golf. This golf course is rapidly growing as a hot spot due to hosting the event “ Mayakoba Golf Classic”. The course is best known for the stunning limestone canals and includes a lot of impressive features such as being surrounded by seaside beaches and a tropical green jungle.

Bandon Trails

Next we have  Bandon Trails in Bandon, Ore. This course is less glamorous in comparison to El Camaleon, but perfect for someone who loves adventure and a real challenge. The course contains adventure through dunes, meadows and forests and definitely makes for a challenging golf experience.  It also offers championship layouts – Bandon Dunes, Pacific Dunes, Bandon Trails, Old Macdonald – as well as the 13-hole short course and the 100,000-square foot putting course called the Punchbowl.

County Cork

County Cork, Ireland has one of the most magnificent and most expensive golf courses in the world called Old Head. People have described this course as unforgettable and totally breath taking. The golf course is placed on cliff edges where it is 250 feet down to water, with an amazing view. This golf course really is one of kind and described as a sensory experience with seagulls soaring and waves crashing, making for a very calming atmosphere. Make sure to wrap up warm, wearing something waterproof, as Irelands known for its unpredictable weather.

Jasper Park Golf Club

Jasper park golf club situated in Canada, has been praised by experts as one of the best. The course is surrounded by lodges which you can book for your trip away. The 18-hole course is best known for its dramatic bunkering and holes aligned with mountains in the distance.  This course is a real national treasure, with fairways through forests and a beautiful landscape, as well as having challenging holes that will be sure to get your brain working!  It’s definitely a perfect getaway for the keen golfer.

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain

Lastly, we have Jade Dragon Snow mountain in China. The golf course is set up at the bottom of the valley that faces the famous, breath-taking Jade Dragon Snow mountain. The golf club is situated 3100 metres above sea level, sitting as the second highest golf course in the world.  You can enjoy the mountain view from nearly every hole on the course and take some fantastic photos to keep for memories and not forgetting a fantastic Instagram post!
