With its stony shores, green sea, fish and chips, £5 disposable BBQ’s, end of the peer entertainment and disappointing weather, what could be better than the good old British beach holiday? Well quite a lot apparently. For those of you looking to ditch the humdrum of seagulls and Me Whippies there’s a plethora of amazing beach parties and experiences to lose yourself in. From secret moon parties on Thailand’s tiny islands to decadent extravaganza’s on Miami’s south beach the world has plenty to offer those in need of a little sandy excitement. So why not ditch the lido this year in favor of something truly mind blowing.
Full Moon Party Ko Pha Ngan, Thailand

The full moon parties of Ko Pha Ngan beach have become infamous since they first started in the late 80’s. From the humble beginnings of a few back packers meeting on a beach to the now massive gatherings (attracting some 30,000 party goers a year) the full moon parties are ones of legend. Revelers can expect live music until dawn, booze by the bucket load and large bonfires to set the tone for one of the best nights you’ll ever have. And for those seeking a more intimate gathering, there are secretive half moon and blue moon parties on nearby beaches, should you be intrepid enough to track them down.
Benicássim Festival, Benicássim, Spain

Benicássim has quickly become one of Europe’s top cultural events since its conception in 1995. With art shows and film screenings during the day and an amazing mix of live music in the evening (this years artists range from Kendrik Lamar to Massive Attack). For those who would rather skip the daytime culture, there are gorgeous beaches and bars to wind away the hours with other partygoers before the evenings festivities kick off again.
Boardmasters festival, Cornwall, UK

I know I know, this is meant to be a list of parties outside of the British Isles but Boardmasters is probably the best the UK has to offer and deserves it place here. Split into two locations, Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay, the later is the place for music and food and the former is for skaters and surfers to compete and show off their talents. This years musical highlights include; Deadmau5, Chase & Status, James Bay, Primal Scream and (my personal fave) Craig David, so why not check it out.
Midsummer, Gotland, Sweden

Whilst Sweden may not be the first destination that springs to mind when thinking of the perfect beach party holiday, there is one exception that you may have missed, midsummer. This yearly event help during the summer solstice (mid June) is one of Sweden’s biggest celebrations and the beach at Gotland attracts thousands of tall, blonde and beautiful people every year. So why not join them?
Playa D’en Bossa, Ibiza, Spain

Although not an actual party in its own right, you may be forgiven for thinking that every day in Playa D’en Bossa is an organised venture into pure hedonism. Located at Ibiza’s southern most tip, the white shores of Las Salinas offer something for everyone with a great restaurant and culture scene in the day and a seemingly endless stream of top notch nightclubs to get turnt up for the latest summer bangers.
ULTRA, South Beach, Miami, USA

There is a reason ULTRA is voted the best in festival in the world. Every March thousands of people from all over the globe head to south beach for 3 days of top sets from the best DJ line ups imaginable. Although the party may be over for another year you still have time to catch the European version in Split, Croatia, in July for another chance to have an absolutely banging beach experience.
